Longtime Dallas Bar Association Executive Director, Cathy Maher, will retire on December 31, 2016. Maher has been with the 11,000+ member association for 38 years, having served in multiple roles within the organization and serving as its Executive Director for the past 22 years.
Maher is responsible for the overall operations of the Association, the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, Lawyer Referral Service, and the Belo Mansion and Pavilion. Under her leadership the Association repeatedly has been recognized by the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas.
Among her many accomplishments Maher is most proud of her efforts in helping to lead the highly successful $14 million fundraising campaign to build the Pavilion, which was the 2003 addition to the Belo Mansion. Today, the combined facility accommodates the ever-growing Dallas Bar Association membership and serves as a popular event and meeting venue for the community.
“I am very grateful to have spent almost four decades with this outstanding organization, and deeply honored to lead it for the last 22 years. I am very proud of what the Dallas Bar has accomplished,” Cathy said.
“The Dallas Bar Association and each of its members have been the beneficiaries of not only Cathy’s skills and enormous talents, but a terrific work ethic and drive,” said Dallas Bar Association President Jerry Alexander. “This combination yields phenomenal results, and has for Cathy Maher and the Dallas Bar Association. Cathy is the kind of person and has had the success that warrants every accolade anyone can give her.”
