The Dallas Bar Association will host its 14th annual education symposium on Friday, October 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Belo Mansion to bring together community leaders in the interest of improving public education in the Metroplex. Educators and the public are invited and encouraged toattend this program.
Track programs for educators, administrators, counselors, and principals will include topics such as Cyber Security, A Conversation with Dr. Hinojosa, Educating Educators: Resources for Students in Crisis, and School Safety: Active Shooter Preparedness and Response.
Topics for the student track include School Safety: What Students Should Do in an Emergency and Pursuing a Legal Career: What Students Need to Know.
The Aberg Center for Literacy will be presented with the prestigious “Jack Lowe Sr. Award for Community Leadership” during the Symposium luncheon and the keynote speaker is Cheryl Wattley, of UNT Dallas College of Law.
Registration for the Educators Track is $35 per person (includes lunch). The luncheon only is $35 per ticket or $280 per table of 8, or $350 for table of 10. The Student Track program is free to students and their teachers (lunch is $35). Fee waivers are available if unable to afford the program. The Belo Mansion is at 2101 Ross Avenue/Pearl, in Downtown Dallas. Parking is $4 in the Belo Pavilion garage (enter from Olive Street). Seating is limited. A sell-out is expected. A 1.75-hour continuing legal education (CLE) credit is available for attorneys.
