Symposium on Improving Public Education in Dallas

Educators and Public Invited

The Dallas Bar Association will host its annual Education Symposium on Monday, October 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Belo Mansion to bring together community leaders in the interest of improving public education in the Metroplex. Educators and the public are invited and encouraged toattend this program.

This year’s event will focus on “Improving the Lives of Children Through Advocacy,” and is sponsored by the DBA and the SMU Dedman School of Law’s W.W. Caruth, Jr. Institute for Children’s Rights. Co-sponsors include: CitySquare, Dallas CASA, Disability Rights Texas, Family Protective Services, Region 10 ESC, Texas Lawyers for Children, and Texas Woman’s University.

Reading Partners North Texas will be presented with the prestigious “Jack Lowe Sr. Award for Community Leadership” during the Symposium luncheon. The keynote speaker is Marquis Fomby, Judicial Security, United States Marshal Service (DOJ).

Registration for the DBA member lawyers and judges before (includes lunch) is $75, and $110 for non-members. A special rate for non-profits is $35 per ticket. Education credit hours are available for the following groups: MCLE 5.00, Social Work CEU 0.5, MFT 5.0, LPC56.0, and CPE 6.0.

The Belo Mansion is at 2101 Ross Avenue/Pearl, in Downtown Dallas. Parking is $4 in the Belo Pavilion garage (enter from Olive Street). Seating is limited. A sell-out is expected.
