Dallas Bar Association Hosts Texas Day of Civility & Professionalism

The Dallas Bar Association (DBA), is hosting a Texas Day of Civility and Professionalism on Friday, April 20, 2018. The Day of Civility is an opportunity for all attorneys in Texas to reaffirm the Texas Lawyer’s Creed, which states that lawyers should always conduct themselves with the utmost courtesy and professionalism toward judges, adversaries, peers, workplace colleagues, clients, and other counsel, and their clients.

The half-day seminar, co-sponsored by the Dallas Bar Foundation, ABOTA, AlixPartners, Inns of Court, and the State Bar of Texas (SBOT) Professionalism Committee, will include various speakers and panels including a Judicial Fireside Chat led by Justice Douglas Lang; a General Counsel Panel, led by Patrick Long; and a Morris Harrell Professionalism Panel, led by Ashley Jones Wright.  

Featured speakers include: Kim Askew, K&L Gates; Hon. Jane Boyle, Northern District of Texas; Dean Royal Furgeson, UNT Dallas College of Law; Justice Eva Guzman, Supreme Court of Texas; Michael K. Hurst, DBA President, Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst; Harriet Miers, Locke Lord LLP; Roy Stacy, Stacy Conder Allen LLP; Tom Vick, State Bar of Texas President; and Chief Justice Carolyn Wright.  

A proclamation supporting the Texas Day of Civility was signed by the Supreme Court of Texas and the Court of Criminal Appeals of Texas.

The program will be held at the Pavilion at the Belo Mansion, 2101 Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas (garage parking available; enter from Olive Street). The event is free. Lunch is available for $14.95. Four and a half hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit in Ethics is available for attorneys.
